Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
1. About this policy
This policy explains how BRP Finance ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information collected through brpfinance.com and when you enquire with us about finance. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we handle personal information in line with them.
We work with lenders and other credit providers (in this policy, "lenders"). When you send us an application, we pass your details to a lender, who will assess it and handle your information under its own privacy policy.
"Personal information" is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not it is true and whether or not it is recorded in a material form.
2. The personal information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include:
(a) your name, contact details (phone, email, postal and residential address, suburb and postcode) and contact preferences;
(b) any information you enter in our enquiry and application forms, whatever they ask for from time to time, such as the type of finance you are interested in, the amount, its purpose, the vehicle or other asset you want to finance, and your business name or ABN where the finance is for a business;
(c) your confirmation, through the tick box on our forms, that you have read this policy and agree to your details being used and shared as it describes;
(d) information about your circumstances that you choose to give us, such as your income, employment, assets and liabilities, or your business and its financial position;
(e) information about the asset you want to finance, a trade-in or insurance, where you tell us about them;
(f) documents you send us to pass on to a lender, such as identity or financial documents;
(g) records of our communications with you, including emails, messages, notes of calls and meetings, and survey or feedback responses;
(h) information about your use of our website, such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and how you arrived at our site;
(i) any other information you choose to give us.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, religious or political information) unless it is necessary and you consent, or the law requires or authorises it.
3. How we collect it
Most information comes directly from you: when you complete a form on our website, contact us by phone, email or messaging service, or meet with us.
We may also collect information about you from others, including:
(a) lenders, for example to let us know how your application is progressing;
(b) people and businesses who refer you to us, such as dealers;
(c) online platforms and social media you use to contact or interact with us;
(d) public registers and other publicly available sources.
Where we collect information about you from someone else, we take reasonable steps to make sure you know we hold it and why, unless that would be unreasonable or the law allows otherwise.
You can browse our website without telling us who you are. If you prefer not to give us information we ask for, we may not be able to answer your enquiry or provide our services.
4. How we use it
We use personal information to:
(a) respond to your enquiry and tell you about equipment, vehicle, business and asset finance;
(b) pass your application to a lender, so that it can assess it and, if it is approved, provide the finance;
(c) follow up on your enquiry or application, and manage our arrangements with lenders;
(d) send you information about finance products, services and events that may interest you;
(e) manage our relationship with you, handle feedback and complaints, and improve our services and website;
(f) protect our website, systems, customers and business against fraud, misuse and security threats;
(g) meet our legal obligations, including record-keeping and tax laws;
(h) any other purpose you consent to, or that the law requires or permits.
5. Technology, including artificial intelligence
We use software and online services, some of which include artificial intelligence (AI) features, to help manage enquiries, communications, records and marketing. These tools may help us draft, translate, summarise and organise information. Our staff review this work and remain responsible for it. Information an AI tool produces about you, such as a summary or a note, is handled under this policy like any other personal information.
We do not use computer programs, including AI, to make decisions that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect your rights or interests using your personal information. If that changes, we will update this policy first to describe the kinds of decisions and the information used.
6. Who we disclose it to
We disclose personal information only where it is reasonably necessary for the purposes in this policy, or where you consent or the law requires or permits it. Recipients may include:
(a) lenders and other credit providers, and the businesses and service providers they work with, so that they can assess your application;
(b) our staff and the businesses and brands related to us;
(c) dealers, sellers and suppliers of the asset being financed, where you ask us to or it is needed for your application;
(d) service providers who help us operate, such as providers of information technology, cloud storage, customer relationship management, communication, marketing, analytics and professional services;
(e) people who referred you to us, where you agree;
(f) our insurers, professional advisers and any industry body we deal with;
(g) government bodies, regulators, courts and law enforcement agencies, where the law requires or authorises it;
(h) a prospective buyer of all or part of our business, under an obligation of confidentiality.
When you send us an enquiry or application, you agree, through the tick box on our forms, to us passing it to a lender for the purposes in this policy. Once a lender has your details, it handles them under its own privacy policy, including any disclosure to lenders, finance aggregators and credit reporting bodies, and any credit check, which it may carry out only as the law allows.
We require our service providers to protect personal information and to use it only to provide their services to us. We do not sell personal information.
7. Disclosure outside Australia
We are likely to disclose personal information outside Australia to service providers that store or process information for us, which may be located in the United States, the United Kingdom, member states of the European Union, Singapore and other countries where those providers operate. Lenders and their service providers may also store or process information outside Australia, as their own privacy policies explain.
We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, except where you consent otherwise or the law permits it.
8. Direct marketing
We may send you information about finance products, services and events by email, SMS, phone, messaging service or post, where you have asked us to, where you would reasonably expect it, or where the law otherwise permits. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth).
You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe option in our messages or by contacting us using the details in the Contact us section. If we obtained your contact details from someone else, you can ask us where we obtained them.
9. Cookies, analytics and online advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and measure the effect of our marketing.
We may use analytics services to understand how visitors use our website. They collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type and the pages you view.
We may also use advertising services to show our advertisements to people who have visited our website, and to measure their results. You can manage personalised advertising in the settings of the platforms concerned.
Some forms on our website are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which collects information about your device and how you use the form to help prevent spam and misuse. The Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Terms of Service (policies.google.com/terms) apply.
Some pages include content and links from third parties, such as videos, maps and messaging services. When you use them, those providers may collect information and set cookies under their own privacy policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of our website may not work properly if you do.
10. How we store and protect it
We hold personal information in electronic and paper records, including with service providers that store information for us. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. These steps include access controls, confidentiality obligations on our staff and service providers, and secure handling of documents.
No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure. If you have reason to believe your information is no longer secure, please tell us straight away.
11. Data breaches
If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm to the people whose information is involved, we will assess it promptly and notify the affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
12. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping requirements. Some records must be kept for set periods, for example business records that tax laws require us to keep. When we no longer need information, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.
13. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Contact us using the details in the Contact us section. We will need to verify your identity before we respond.
We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request or for a correction. If providing access involves significant cost, we may charge a reasonable fee and will tell you first. If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing, unless that would be unreasonable, and explain how you can complain.
14. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer using the details in the Contact us section. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it, and respond in writing within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
If your complaint is about finance, or about how a lender has handled your information, contact us and we will refer it to the right party.
